Think of returning is it worth it?
I am thinking of picking up nightfall. I was wondering has the game changed much since factions. Is the game still pvp based or is there some long lasting goodies for an old die hard pve/farmer/seller like me?
thanks for the imput. thanks for not getting this thread closed due to flaming....

Buy it. Most certainly. Nightfall is more PvE based this round, and has alot of added new features to make a die hard PvE player drool.

Nightfall is *dramatically* more PVE based than Factions
but if you are expecting to have Farming fun - you may be disappointed
can read about people comparing all 3 chapters here

Nightfall was better than factions and worth the 50usd imo.
If nothing else I got two new classes and some new skills to use in tyria, cause everyone knows tyria >all

Die Hard PvE - yes...tons of great new PvE content.
Farmer - no, the changes to the AI are gonna be painful to a returning player.
Seller - no, market values have really, really tanked, so power trading has really gone downhill from the Prophecies (and Factions) days.

i tried out nightfall, its ok but with hench and heroes gw may as well be an offline single player game now, noone at all was going in groups of real players and the odd person who wanted a team was spamming for ages without luck

It depends on your playstyle. I'm a pure PvEer and didn't really enjoy farming, only did it when I needed cash for something I thought looked "spiffy".
However, since NFs release, the AI has been changed a great deal. It seems to be attempting to act like PvP bots. Most of my guild and alliance members have left to EQ2 or WoW since then. I myself have found myself playing EQ2 instead of GW simply because of this AI.
I would advise trying it before buying Nightfall. Load it back up and play for a bit. The AI is universally altered; so if it doesn't bother you and you enjoy it. grab Nightfall. It's loaded with some really good PvE content.
The AI however is IMO, the worst I've ever seen in a online RPG. It prefers running over fighting... but do yourself a favor, search the forums for AI issues and then try it before you grab a copy.

Get Nightfall if your a anti-social emo because you won't find any live people in the game, only players running around with heroes. Hate to say it, grab Factions because it actually has live people playing.

Definitely get Nightfall -- I'm a pure PvE player -- loved Prophecies ... thought Factions was ok (hated the city, loved the Jade Sea) -- right now I'm 1/3 way through Nightfall (taking my time) and I LOVE IT!!!
It has much more of an RPG flavor than either of the two previous chapters.
Definitely worth $50 considering the amount of entertainment you get out of it (ha, and I got it for $35 on sale!!)

QFT Hopefully it's been fixed to the point of playability as I'm a pure PvE player and I've been spending more time playing WoW as at least the AI's not so frustrating.

Dont buy it, if you are a farmer this game is not about farming and items and never will be, some people just cant understand it. The farmer mentality doesnt have a place in this game. Just keep doing what you been doing and don't worry about GW.

*shrug* - I farm quite a bit. The 130 hp Dervish boss farming build works great. I also really like the dervish for farming in Tyria and the few places I do in Factions. Though the market has deflated quite a bit on many items, especially on weapon skins with the new inscription system.
But, different games for different people. Personally I like the newer AI. You can not simply have a tank run forward, everything aggro on him, and have everyone else stand back and spam spells (like most other online games). The enemy goes for your monks first , casters kite, and they act more like a person - though there are still quite a few ways to trick the AI. I never did really enjoy brain dead mobs in other online games.
Note: this *really* effects things like 55 monking. Even more than before monsters do not take AoE over time damage and two man teams have a much harder time keeping the non-55'er free from enemies. Things like Spiteful Spirit can not trigger their "run" mode.
While there are not as many high end farming opportunities, team based (hench or with people) PvE is MUCH more fun IMO.

I say definately get Nightfall. Guildwars is by far the best MMO's out IMO. All MMO's follow a certain mold - Hack/Slash - Grab Loot - Sell - Farm (Be it Items - Herbs for example and gain those levels. Every MMO's IMO have the same general complaint - Content/End Game.
Where GW shines is that you can step away from the game and feel as if though your not losing anything. With the thought that you can return anytime and keep on trucking. It's really hard to lose in Guildwars. Especially since it's a game about skill not level.
So yes I would say pick up Nightfall - It's worth the Money ($50 - $30).

If you like 90% pve quests and enjoy the challenge of unlocking elite missions after ending the main story line. I think you will like NF. There is a great market for gems and elite area armor upgrades. Prices ranging from 35k to 100k plus ectos each. The market for weapons and materials is about the same as in factions.
The elite missions are long in some cases like a tombs run. The heros are like a mix of pets and henchman. You can level and set them up using any skills you have unlocked and are moveable like pieces in age of empires. You will find people standing around waiting for a group as usual but if you start your own group you will find no shortage of people. The visuals in game are very good and the polls my alliance members took showed they felt the game was a A- or better for pve and B for pvp.
